Through this section of my web site I hope to give you a feel for what
BODY SYMBOLISM is all about. I hope to convey some of the
beautiful ideas expressed in its chapters and how helpful they could be
to you. Let's start off with a summary of each chapter and then
progress to a variety of interesting quotes from the pages of
BODY SYMBOLISM.
For millennia Humanity has pondered and argued about the most important, core questions about the
nature of Life on earth. I call these, the ultimate questions we have about Life, the "Quintessential
Questions" . They are: 1) What am I? 2) Who am I? 3) What is the earth all about? 4) Why am I
here? 5) How do events happen? and 6) Why do events happen as they do?
Chapter One delineates the two major belief systems Western culture currently uses to explain the
nature of Life on earth. These idea-paths, or paradigms, have dictated what most of us believe about
ourselves, the nature of daily events, disease, injury and healing. They are the religious and the
old-scientific belief bubbles. Next comes a discussion about these paradigms' answers to the
"Quintessential Questions" and their well-known explanations about the hows and whys of disease,
injury and healing.
The newest discoveries about the nature of Life on earth, as offered by the study of Quantum
Relativistic Physics and advances from the forefront of intuitive explorations, are then discussed.
The resultant explanation is presented as our next great philosophic revolution; it is the paradigm of
metaphysics. This chapter explains the metaphysical answers to the "Quintessential Questions" and
presents a new view of the inner workings of daily events, health, disease, injury and healing. These
metaphysical ideas are powerful, beautiful and compelling ! They offer much, both in their promise
of fulfillment by consciously creating our Lives and in affirming the beauty of Life and the Source of
all Life.
Once again, if you would like to read an excerpt from BODY SYMBOLISM, you can read all of
Chapter One at www.booklocker.com.
Chapter Two informs you about the characteristics and workings of our Unconscious, Subconscious
and Conscious Mind. This explains how we can be totally unaware of choosing a disease or injury to
symbolize an emotional issues and yet, at inner levels, still make that choice. Next, Chapter Two
presents eleven facts about our emotions that are very important to understand if we are to navigate
well through our realities. Understanding these facts, we will be well prepared to not bog ourselves
down with unnecessary, burdensome feelings that can only hinder our spiritual growth.
These important ideas are followed up by an explanation of chakras and the seven basic motives we
have for choosing to create an illness and/or injury. This book focuses on the fourth of the seven
reasons, that of Body Symbolism. Chapter Two then provides practical guidelines so you can better
analyze the messages symbolized by your self-selected disease or injury.
Finally, Chapter Two explains the emotional meanings symbolized by each of the eleven body
systems, from our immune system to our skin system. Understanding the emotional meanings of our
body systems prepares us to understand the meanings of our specific body parts, which are fully
discussed in Chapter Three.
In Chapter Three I discuss the emotional meanings of each part of our body, from our feet up to our
brain. I provide practical guidelines to interpret diseases and/or injuries to each body part. For
instance, our shoulders are where we physically carry heavy packages. Psychologically, this part of
our body signifies the burdens many of us carry around, especially our unexpressed emotions. Thus,
those who have shoulder problems are indicating to ourselves that we are carrying around toxic,
burdening amounts of unexpressed feelings (and wish we weren't). This chapter is quite extensive
and informative as it thoroughly explains the emotional meanings of twenty eight of our beloved body
parts.
I begin Chapter Four with an explanation of the ugliest, most destructive part of us: the Negative
Ego. It is the self-defeating part of Humanity. This is a component of our psyche that we have only
recently begun to understand. It is responsible for most of the horror that we experience on this
beautiful planet, individually and en masse. It is incredibly important to understand the Negative Ego
and learn how to dismantle its destructive influence. I begin by discussing the often misunderstood,
often denied force of melodrama , a key tool the Negative Ego uses to talk us into our own spiritual
sabotage. These ideas are crucial to understand so we can make our journey into spiritual maturity
as easy and joyous as possible.
The condition of cancer is then described, physically and emotionally, with an emphasis on
understanding motives for its creation. This leads into a pioneering discussion of eleven
emotional motives for cancer occurring in children. I also present two motives for death at a young
age. Logically this is followed by practical, helpful suggestions about mourning, with special
emphasis on not blaming God or Life for our loss. This view is revolutionary and liberating; it will
help many of us by explaining the inner dynamics of childhood death, so that we do not burden
ourselves with unnecessary guilt and anguish.
Chapter Four discusses previously unknown dynamics concerning Alzheimer's Disease and five other
disorders which seek to "Stop The World." Again, revolutionary and helpful, especially in assisting
us in prevention.
The remaining focus of Chapter Four involves discussions about the emotional motives responsible
for the creation of twenty two common disease conditions. Included are emotional interpretations of:
AIDS, Glaucoma, Breast Cancer, Cataracts, Prostate Cancer, Heredity, Colds, Menstrual
Difficulties, etc.
Throughout this chapter there is much reference to society's current level of emotional maturity and
its treatment of women, men and children. Based on my clinical experience, common beliefs and
attitudes that are harmful to our well-being are explained, with suggestions offered for more loving,
more healthful approaches. The more loving and in harmony we are with our emotional natures and
each other, the less we will need disease and injury to symbolize our repressed emotions.
In this final chapter of BODY SYMBOLISM, I discuss the previous paradigms' views of healing
and contrast them to the metaphysical view. Based on my clinical experience, I suggest sixteen
attitudinal and action steps to take when seeking to speed healing of a disease or injury condition
( Step One: Detach, Step Two : Take Responsibility, Step Three: Drain Self Pity, etc. ). These
steps are powerful, practical approaches to take to more effectively resolve a health problem, no
matter what healing modalities we may employ.
I follow these ideas with an important discussion about the role of forgiveness and how to honestly
work toward it. This is crucial to clarify because of several misguided approaches that are available
regarding forgiveness and its role in healing.
Finally, in Chapter Five BODY SYMBOLISM offers an exploration of what our future could be
like as more and more of us become aware of metaphysics and how to consciously create our Lives
as we prefer them to be. This is the authentic basis we now have for hope and optimism for our
future, individually and en masse. Living consciously, lovingly is our hope for The New Age.
The Introduction acquaints you with the field of Alternative Healing, tracing its "unofficial" origins
from the late '60s to the most recent, medically-sanctioned developments in the '09s. The
Introduction informs you about my credentials as a professional psychotherapist, the profound
dangers of ignorance about our mind-body communications and my motives for writing
BODY SYMBOLISM. Also promised is that this book will help answer the most agonizing
question many ask when we or our loved ones have a serious disease or injury :
" Why me / her / him / us ? Why ??? "
